12/28/2006 11:51:00 AM ![]() THE PRATA NATIONAL TEAM Im back after working hard for 10 days for FIBA!! my my my...it was a horrible experience working as the liasion officer for the india national youth team =/ to start things off, i waited for them for 5 hrs at the airport but they never turned up. they missed their flight but did not have the brains to inform their country! so inconsiderate =( make one little girl stay at the darn cold arrival hall for so long. For all their trainings, when we were scheduled to leave the hotel at 7.45am for the training ground, they came down only at 7.45 to have their breakfast! can you imagine waiting for 15 people to finish eating? the buses' schedule went haywire because they just take their own sweet time. they arent even there to compete! they are there to shop and eat prata only =/ At the Singapore Basketball Centre, they asked for lots and lots of posters like they have never seen basketball posters in their lives. (esp the coaches) They asked for lots of Coach Carter's movie posters, old magazines...(After the staff of BAS handed to them whatever posters they have, the coach went up to him and pointed to 1 of the posters, "i want 10 more. no no, 15 more.") oh my! what can they do with all these pieces of paper! On the first day of competition, after their match ended, the first thing the coach said to me was, "Where are all the refreshments? Alex (my Chief) promised us some food." so i patiently explained that the food will come later blah blah blah and i asked if they wanted a room to rest and debrief about their performance. They followed me to the room and came out in less than 1 sec asking more impatiently again "Where are the food and drinks?" In less than 2 min, they ask bout the food for more than 10times. i guess they must have followed me to the room thinking that the food is inside!! i have never seen such hungry people before. Subsequently, they were always late for their trainings because they always come down late; after the games they always decide to go to somewhere else at the last minute, disrupting the bus schedule yet again. eveything they do is slow; they take half an hour to get changed and move out to the bus. the coaches' dont bring their own stuff like the whistle; and when i said that we dont provide it, he suan me by saying "the basketball centre is so big and you dont even have a whistle?" what the hell! i gave presents to all the players only (i detest the coaches so i didnt buy for them) on xmas seeing that they are so poor thing, having to spend the holiday without their family. The coaches came up to me after that, asking where are the presents for them. what the hell!!!!!! im not racist but after this incident..haha maybe its in their culture that they have to behave this way. luckily everything is over and im back sleeping on my own bed after so long! =) |
